There are two main types of synthetic badminton court flooring: PVC and acrylic

PVC badminton court flooring

PVC synthetic courts are popular and offer good slip resistance. They are offered in the form of mats for easy placement and storage. These mats are further divided into surface mats, mid mats and under mats. The surface mats offer durability, slip resistance and wear resistance, while the middle mats add stability. Ideally, these should be installed above the wooden floor.

Wood has a natural tendency to absorb pressure without causing too much disruption to the body. This provides a great playing surface. However, not all wood surfaces are suitable for badminton. Certain species tend to become slippery, while others may not be as durable.

The most recommended type of wood badminton court flooring is hardwood.
